start of the year photo dump

I know. I've been an awful poster lately; I've just been ridiculously busy with the holidays and with having my darling here, so life sort of got in the way of posting photos. I have a couple of folders on my computer that I haven't even touched yet, the photos are still in RAW format without so much as a second look. So you'll have to be patient.

What I'll share with you today are random photos taken throughout December and January so far; bits and pieces of what my life was about during these two months.

Another thing I'll do from now on, is to post both in Portuguese and in English. I feel like I've been neglecting my country people by posting just in the language of Shakespeare, so from now on the introductions will be made in both languages. The only exceptions will be for texts that serve as companion pieces for photos; those will remain in whatever language they were written in.

Also to come tonight or tomorrow is a post about a Christmas concert that I got to be a part of, which was shown live on television on the 23rd! Stay tuned!

Eu sei. Tenho sido uma blogger terrível, ultimamente; tenho estada estupidamente ocupada com as festas e com o facto de ter a minha querida aqui comigo, por isso a vida sobrepôs-se à partilha de fotos. Para perceberem, tenho um par de pastas no meu computador nas quais ainda não toquei — os ficheiros estão em RAW, ainda, e eu não tive tempo de as seleccionar. Por isso, terão que ser pacientes.

O que vou partilhar convosco hoje é uma escolha um bocadinho aleatória do que foi o meu mês de Dezembro, e o início de Janeiro; pedaços soltos do que foi a minha vida durante este tempo.

Outra coisa que farei de agora em diante é postar em Português e em Inglês. Acho que tenho sido um bocadinho negligente com os meus compatriotas ao postar apenas na língua de Shakespeare, por isso daqui para a frente as apresentações serão feitas em ambas as línguas. A única excepção será para os textos que servem de companhia às fotos; esses permanecerão na língua em que foram escritos originalmente.

Ainda esta noite, ou amanhã de manhã, virá um post sobre um concerto no qual eu tive o prazer de participar, em Guimarães, e que deu em directo na RTP, no dia 23 de Dezembro. Fiquem atentos!

happy 2013!

I hope all of you, my dearest followers, have a wonderful 2013!

2012 was a year of change for me, but most of all a year of growth. So much changed for the better in my life, that even the things I called bad at the time (the huge bout of depression, panic attacks, lack of inspiration) seem tiny in comparison. I am fortunate to be here and to have this outlet, this way of sharing my life.

Let's pray for a 2013 just as full and as joyful as this last one has been.

I only have two resolutions for this year (I tend to only do resolutions I know I can keep, so bear with me): to photograph more and to do less worrying and over-thinking about life. Life was meant to be enjoyed, not analyzed to the detail. I need to tell my brain that more often.

Have a wonderful time, my dear friends, and know that I am unbelievably grateful to have you all in my life.

A very merry Christmas

Even though I've been ridiculously busy and kind of away from this blog, I wanted to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas. May your days be filled with light and joy!

winter at the beach

Last Sunday, while my Mother worked, my sister came with me and the rest of our family on a walk. It was sunny outside, and even though it was as cold as could be, we had fun. She loves the beach, and she's such a city girl that I'm always happy when she can soak up some sun, albeit cold and wintery, and run around outside.

A couple of weeks ago, I convinced my dad to bring me to the plant shop in exchange for a couple of hours at the beach with his dog, Pompeu. It was wonderful. Pompeu gets so happy to run in the sand, he just runs and jumps and brings us stuff. It's hilarious.

Since my dad wanted a photoshoot with Pompeu, I took a few pictures that day, as well as at the plant shop. I just love that place. I hope you enjoy them!
